ESSS 2026 Results
We would like to share the results of the ESSS 2026, hosted by EEB2 at EuroControl from March 8th until 11th.
Four projects were selected at our annual Science Festival to represent EEB1, ranging from many different fields of science:
- Computer Science with ‘Comment fonctionne un robot d’échec?’ from Gabriel Nero and Alexis Chatard-Moulin (S6Fr)
- Biology with ‘Will it grow faster?’ from Natalia Chylinska, Ewa Fijalkowska and Martyna Kuik (S5 Pl)
- Physics with ‘Invisible Threat Detector: see what the eye can’t ‘ from Sarthak Choudhary (S4 En)
- Public Health with ‘Too Loud to ignore: Noise Pollution in Brussels’ from Anna Aldamiz-Echevarria Akiyama, Lara Horkay and Sofija Limantaite (S2 En)
The first two were competing in the Senior category, and the latter two in the Junior Category. All projects had to write a report in advance, then they presented their poster in a plenary, and a presentation in front of a jury panel.
The two projects from Junior (Anna Aldamiz-Echevarria Akiyama, Lara Horkay, Sofija Limantaite and Sarthak Choudhary) made it to the Finals (top 5 of the category from 66 projects!), and got to present their work in a plenary session in front of more that 150 students and teachers from all over Europe.
During the closing ceremony, Sarthak Choudhary was awarded the 1st prize in the Junior Category!
We are extremely pleased with our students, beyond the prize won, and the participation to the Finals. All groups did very thorough scientific work, and responded well to our mentoring. They were proud representatives of our school through the whole of the competition.
