2019-2020 results: 12th Science Festival

2019-2020: 12th Science Festival on 01/13/2020

On the 13th January 2020 our school organized the 12th annual Science Festival with 36 projects and 54 pupils. The Festival last for 8 hours. Thanks to the enthusiastic teachers and students, more than 1100 students visited the presentations on this day. And approximately another 1000-1500 students followed the Festival via Live Stream.

The jury panel (8 teachers from different languages sections and scientific field, last year’s ESSS winning students and a parent representative) announced the final winners of the competition in the Senior and the Junior categories:

Juniors

  • 1st prize: Raphael Cambas – The five second rule: Hoe dangerous is my Gummy Bear? – S2EnA

  • 2nd prize: Victor Williams: Natural solutions to antibiotic resistant genes S3EnA

  • 3rd prize: Alba Weiner and Isabella Burgher: The Blob: Experimenting with smart slime moulds – S1En

Seniors:

  • 1st prize: Julian Máthé: Investigating harmful domestic gas absorption in house plants – S4EnA

  • 2nd prize: Urszula Kedra: How does a chicken work? Modelling simple behavior – S5PlA

  • 3rd prize: Nicholas Cambas: Bridging the gap between Physics and Civil Engineering – S4EnA

We are delighted to announce, that after a discussion the Jury finally made the selection of those students who can represent our school in different international competitions.

ESSS Juniors:

and for the Belgian Science Fair:

  • Daniela Senyoni and Domitilla Savoia: Regarder votre téléphone dans l’obscurité pourrais vous rendre aveugle? – S2ItA – S2HuA

Unfortunately because of the COVID-19 pandemia the above mentioned ESSS ans Science Fair has been cancelled.

This year the medals were designed and 3d printed in our FabLab, thanks to Mr Boulay.

This year we had valuable prizes as well: the 1st prize was JBL speaker, the 2nd prize was 24000mAh solar powerbank, and the 3rd prize was Unstable Unicorns card game and extension pack for the juniors and a magnetic stress killer toy for the Seniors.
